An original piano miniature · two possible lead-ins

Keep the melody. Choose the lead-in.

A held note or a moving line before the opening returns. Hear both, then choose a complete version to keep working with.

Assistant-authored worked example · D minor · 3/4 · playback quarter note = 84.

Listen through bar 13. The opening returns unchanged.

The interactive player compares matching bars 11–13, about 6.4 seconds per version. Auditioning does not select a version. Only right-hand notes and rhythms in bars 11–12 change.

Held notes

D5 half and B-flat4 quarter in bar 11, then A4 held through bar 12.

The opening stays. The lead-in is a choice.

The same two-bar melody begins both versions and returns exactly in bars 13–14. The left hand and complete ending stay the same. Four bars open, four answer, four contrast, and four return and close.

Hear the whole piece. Keep either version.

Both complete versions contain 16 bars. Choosing a version in this page connects its full playback and files; it does not save a choice to an account. All native files remain available above.

The held-notes PDF uses 120% print size on two Letter pages; the opening-rhythm PDF uses 100% on one. This separate layout choice does not establish a preferred musical version. PDF and MusicXML omit the tempo mark; add quarter note = 84.

An assistant wrote and saved the seed and complete notation through PlayableNotes, then revised a separate copy. Every musical event outside right-hand bars 11–12 was preserved. One redundant sharp in left-hand bar 12 was removed in the revised text without changing the sounding C-sharp. Checks assessed notation and playback controls, not listening quality or a pianist’s trial.

Try a brief for a melody of your own

Requires PlayableNotes connected in ChatGPT. Adapt this written-note example and keep both versions:

Use PlayableNotes to develop this original two-bar piano melody in D minor, 3/4, quarter note = 84. Bar 1 right hand: F4 quarter, A4 eighth, G4 eighth, E4 quarter. Bar 2: D4 quarter, F4 quarter, A4 quarter. The left hand rests in both seed bars. Save the two-bar seed separately. Then make a 16-bar piano miniature: opening 4 bars, answer 4, contrast 4, return and cadence 4. Preserve the exact melody pitches and rhythms in bars 1–2 and return to them in 13–14. Keep RH within D4–F5 and LH within D2–C4, with simultaneous spans no larger than an octave. Use practical early-intermediate piano texture. Save the first development before making any revisions. Show me the score so I can choose a specific musical change, then save that change as a separate copy. Keep both complete versions playable and export PDF, MusicXML and MIDI.

Creating and editing music, playback and exports are free. Reading a new PDF uses credits; this example starts from written notes.
