Guide: https://playablenotes.com/best-sheet-music-scanners-for-piano

Choose a scanner by the job you need to finish.
Use the same clear source page in every trial. Use music you own or may use.

1. PRICE AND ALLOWANCE
[ ] Confirm the plan includes your source format: photo, PDF or multi-page score.
[ ] Record the total price, currency, term and renewal rules.
[ ] Check the unit: pages, lines of music, staves per system or a subscription.
[ ] Confirm trial, export, daily-use and purchase-country restrictions.

2. DEVICE AND INPUT
[ ] Confirm your device and operating system are supported.
[ ] Check whether scanning is on-device or uses an online service.
[ ] Include complex voices, repeats or markings you regularly teach.

3. CORRECTION AND EDITING
[ ] Compare every note, rest, accidental and rhythm against the original.
[ ] Check voices, repeats, ties, ornaments and expression markings.
[ ] Count corrections and record time to a usable score.
[ ] If arranging, review the entire result for the actual student's needs.

4. PLAYBACK AND STUDENT HANDOFF
[ ] Listen at a useful practice tempo and check the repeat sequence.
[ ] Test the exact file or practice link on the student's device.
[ ] Confirm whether the recipient needs an app, account or paid plan.

5. EXPORTS AND LIMITS
[ ] Open the MusicXML in your destination notation editor.
[ ] Check notes, markings and page layout after importing.
[ ] Test MIDI if your destination is a production or playback tool.
[ ] Check source-music rights and the product's export-use conditions.
